Mapping properties in WebSphere Commerce Suite
By David Gewirtz

This week, we've got a great tip for those of you using WebSphere Commerce Suite, and who want have independent access to your own property file.

Let's assume you want to create a routine that can retrieve properties from your own property file, but you don't want to hard code the property file's directory into your function's code.

The key can be found in your GetResource.jsp file. Take a look inside of GetResource.jsp and you'll see a nice example of how to map resources. Just map your property file in the same was as the GetResource.jsp example, and you'll be good to go.

David Gewirtz is the author of How To Save Jobs and Where Have All The Emails Gone? For more than 20 years, he has analyzed current, historical, and emerging issues relating to technology, competitiveness, and policy. David is the Editor-in-Chief of the ZATZ magazines, is the Cyberterrorism Advisor for the International Association for Counterterrorism and Security Professionals, and is a member of the instructional faculty at the University of California, Berkeley extension.
